Pearl of the shores of Lake Geneva, between Chamberonne and Venoge, Saint-Sulpice takes its name from a former Benedictine priory that already existed in the 11th century. Having become a priory of the order of Citeaux, under the aegis of the abbey of Molesmes, it then passed under the control of the bishopric of Lausanne. During the Reformation, the priory still had a mill on the banks of the Venoge where the men of Denges and Préverenges came to grind their wheat.
Its church remains one of the best witnesses of Romanesque art with its choir, decorated with frescoes, its apse, its apsidioles and its remarkable bell tower. The foundations of its large nave still exist to the north of the building.
In the 18th century, attempts were made to grow madder and mulberry trees in the Venoge valley, but the experiment was cut short.
Today, Saint-Sulpice tends to become a residential city (house for rent in Saint-Sulpice.
